Press Release
blueU wins 2 year contract with the Improvement and Development Agency to supply bespoke e-learning.

The Improvement and Development Agency awards Academy Internet blueU a two year framework agreement for e-learning courseware production

The Academy Internet blueU consortium has been awarded a two year contract to supply e-learning to the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA). Better known for their independent work, Academy Internet and blueU entered into a partnering agreement in late 2002 in order to offer complete e-learning solutions to client organisations in the UK public and private sectors.

Martin Horton, Director of Knowledge and Learning at IDeA, commented on the selection process, “In making our choice we took a best-of-breed approach, seeing most of the UK ’s top e-learning developers. What impressed us most about Academy Internet blueU was their practical, results oriented approach to e-learning, combining proven technology with first class instructional design and innovation”. Horton went on to say, “I particularly liked their design and development methodology and felt they demonstrated their understanding of our culture. In short they are people I can work with.”

The Academy Internet blueU team is responsible for the instructional design and development of the e-learning courseware which IDeA will provide to its customers at IDeA and in Local Authorities. The highly collaborative approach adopted by the team involves the lead instructional designer working closely with the Subject Matter Expert and the IDeA project manager to ensure that the learning materials are suitably engaging for the intended audience. Projects already underway include an internal IDeA good practice guide called “Working Smarter”, a leadership skills course for Local Authority employees and an Urban Design good practice guide developed in collaboration with CABE which is intended for people involved in the Property Development Planning process. Further courses being prepared include an Introduction to Local Government course for new employees in Local Government.

Jason Woodford, Academy Internet blueU Account Manager, said, “We were delighted that IDeA chose our team and look forward to the practical task of providing IDeA with innovative e-learning solutions that help it achieve its objectives. The team is already busily working on five separate e-learning programmes.”

Background Information

The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) was established by and for local government in April 1999. Its mission is to make all local government services the best by supporting self-sustaining improvement from within local government. To help nurture this, the IDeA delivers practical solutions to improve local government performance in a way which respects diversity and promotes equality. E-learning delivery will help to achieve more consistent learning across much wider audiences at reduced costs to the public sector.

Amongst other projects, Academy Internet blueU have just completed an e-learning Induction programme for the Department of Health.
